[Per Press ltis6ciA.Ti6H.l ' GISBORNE, Nov. 25. At tho inquest held at Matawhero into the fire afc the residence of Charles Macfarlane, in August last, the jury returned a verdict that the house was burned down by some person unknown, and that there was not the value of property in the house at the time of the fire as represented h/ Macfarlance to the Insurance Company. The police subsequently arrested Macfarlane, and charged him with arson, and making a false declaration. He was remanded for a week. >■ NAPIER, Nov. 25. Mr J. N. Williams was elected Chairman of the Hawke's Bay County Council to-day.
