A meeting of this Board was held on Tuesday, Oct.' 13 ; present — Messrs J. Gough. (chairman), J. Dysart, C. Rudd> T. Needhani, G. "Watson and A. E. Davis. Tenders were opened and accepted as follows : — W. Savory, for re-forming', 4s 5d per chain ; for metalliug, H. Brickiand Is od, J. Beaman Is sd, D. O'Reilly Is 3d and J. Beaman Is 4d per cubic yard. Very few tenders in all for the works advertised were received, in some cases no tender, while in other cases the Board deemed the tenders too high, and the Clerk was directed to invite fresh' tenders. The Board then r adjourned to allow of a meeting of ratepayers being held, in accordance witli advertisement, to decide whether certain roads should be closed or notiv There was no opposition, and the meeting decided that the roads, as advertised, should be closed, and the Clerk was directed to proceed with the matter as required by the Public Works Act, 1894. On resuming, several letters were read and replies ordered to be sent. The Clerk reported rates collected to date, .£348 17s Id. Resolved— " That the Board purchase eggs of small birds (sparrows, larks, linnets and blackbirds) at 2d per dozen, till Jan. 1, 1897." Accounts having been passed for payment, the Board rose.
