ADELAIDE CARNIVAL MEETING. [Per Press Association.] ADELAIDE, Oct. 19. At the League of Wheelmen's Carnival on Saturday there was a large attendance of the public. The gathering was chiefly interesting on account of Ken Lewis's fine win in the International Race, and the disqualification of Martin, the American crack, in the first heat of the Bame event. Martin was asked for an explanation of his running, and he is alleged to have used offensive language to the judge, who ordered him off the track. In the final of the Flying Handicap another unseemly incident occurred. Nearing the winning post M'Donnell, who was leading, ran very wide, and caused Martin to pull into the fence and hump. Martin entered a protest, and when the two men were returning to the dresj sing room the American struck M'DonneU on the face. The incident was reported to the committee, who * dismissed Martin's protest and disqualified him for two months. ' International Scratch Race — Lewis 1; Martin 2, M'Donnell 3. With a beautifully timed run in the last turn, the winner beat Martin by two lengths. Time — 2min 24sec. Half-mile Flying Handicap— M'Donnell 1, Meadhain 2, Martin 3. Time— lmin 4sec. In the League Handicap, the final heat of which will be run next Saturday, Don Walker lowered the record for a quarter of a mile, covering the distance in 27sec.
