SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The monthly meeting of the West Oxford School Committee was held on Monday evening ; present— Messrs Munu, Allen, Knowles and Kennedy. In the absence of the Chairman, Mr Kennedy took the chair. The master's report showed a total of 124. on the books. The inspector's examination report was read, and considered very satisfactory, particularly in regard to the classes under the care of the mistress (Miss Taylor). Messrs Kennedy and Knowles were appointed visitors for the month. • The monthly meeting of the Woqdend School Committee was held in the schoolroom on Tuesday evening : present Messrs F. Chambers (chairman), J. Little, J. Judson, T. Ayers, T. J. Burnett, c! Pateman and D. C. Shilton. The headmaster's monthly report was read, showing eighty-eight boys and sixty girls on the roll. The Inspector's report was received, and the Committee passed a vote of thanks to the master and his staff for their successful efforts. Out of twenty-eight applicants for the position of head mistress, Miss Leversedge, of Balcairn, was appointed. The usual meeting of the Harewood Eoad School Committee was held on Monday night, Mr S. M'Donald in the ohair, all members present. The master forwarded a statement of accounts in connection with the recent concert for gymnastic apparatus. The Committee decided to forward the names of any irregular scholars to the police> and requested the Chairman to prove the non-attendance where necessary. Some small repairs were authorised and accounts passed for payment. The monthly meeting of the Tai Tapu School Committee was held on Monday evening, Mr Eobert M'Cartney (chairman) in the chair. The inspector's report was read and considered highly satisfactory, and a vote of thanks to Mr Carleton and his staff was carried unanimously. The chairman reported having written to the Board relative to the bad light in the infant room. The chairman stated that the net proceeds of the concert we*e ,£lO, and Mr G. L.* Limbrick was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his special efforts in connection therewith. It was decided to hold a picnic on Nov. 26, and Messrs M|Cartn«y and Limbrick were appointed to make necessary arrangements. Accounts amounting to .£6 6s were passed for payment, and the meeting closed.
