NATIONAL ASSOCIATION.

The new rooms in Gloucester Street of the National Association were opened last night by a well-attended meeting. Mr W. Jacques presided. The report of the Council stated that since the last meeting a large number of new members had been elected : that the resignation of Mr Watt as secretary had been accepted with regret, and that a resolution of the Association's appreciation of the services he had rendered had been placed on record. It was intended to hold weekly meetings so that the objects of the Association might be forwarded as much as possible. The resignation of Mr W. H. Cooper as a member of the committee had been accepted. In conclusion the Council urged upon members to work in unity during the coming contests, to set aside petty differences, and remember the great interests at stake, and in a solf-denying manner to endeavour to add to the freedom and prosperity of the country. The report was adopted. During the evening papers were read by Mr Lisle, on the New Zealand State Insurance Bill; by Mr Locke, on the •' Nationalisation of Jand and the b'.iraUng up policy of the present Government;" and Mr Donnelly gave an address on the Elective Executive Bill. Each subject provoked good discussion. Mrs De La Mare recited Mr Bracken's " God's Own Country," and Mr Jacques gave an explanation regarding the Wages Protection Act. The speakers were accorded hearty votes of thanks. Mr Jacques announced that there would be weekly meetings of members, after which the proceedings terminated.
