CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB.;
GENERAL MEETING. A special general mee'ing of the Canterbury Jockey Club was held yesterday afternoon. Thero was a good attendance, and the Hon E. W. Parker occupied the chair. Tito following were elected members:— Messrs E. C. Ashby, J. M. Buchanan, S. H. Graves, G. Harris, C. Palairet, J. Studholmo, jun.. and W. P. Studholnie. Mr Bullick moved— "That the usual Canterbury Jockey Club ball be held this year, and that the Club.be responsible for a sum not exceeding ,£SO to cover any deficiency." Mr Otterson seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. The following gentlemen were elected as stewards of tho ball:— Sir George Clifford, Hons E. W.Parker and L.Walker, Messrs A. S. Otterson, J. 13. Reid, B. M. Mncdonald, E. 11. Rhodes, W. P. Cowlishaw, G. G. Stead, P. Campbell, W. Dovunish Moares, F. Wigram and Drs Levinge anrl Pnhuer. The meeting then closed. The ball stewards met after the general meeting* and elected the Hon E. W. Parker and Messrs P. Campbell, W. D. Meares, R. M. Macdonald and Dr Palmer as an executive committee. It was decided to hold the ball on Thursday, Nov. 12.
