TPeb Press Association. ! DUNEDIN, Oct. 7. The City Council to-night, at the request of the contractor,scancelled the streetcleaning contract, and will do the work by day labour for six months. The Council resolved to take a poll of the ratepayers to sanction a further loan of .£7OOO for abattoirs. The Workers' Pontical Committee tonight decided to request the city and suburban members to urge the Government to place a further sum, in addition to the .£30,000 voted, on the Supplementary Estimates for the Otago Central Railway, and also to make provision for a new railway station at Dunedin. A resolution was also carried resenting the action of the Legislative Council in throwing out the Eight Hours and Liquor Bills. \
