Tuesday, Oct. 6. EVENING SITTING. PUBLIC WORKS ESTIMATES. After the Telegraph Office closed the Public Works Estimates were still under discussion. Sir JJ. Stout's motion to reduce the vote of .£41,715 for roads and other -works on goldfields and mineral lands by .£6715 was lost by 34 to 18, and the vote passed. Sir E, Stout moved to reduce the vote for roads on goldfields, .£82,257, by .£12,257. Lost by 35 to 17, and the vote passed. Objection -was taken to the vote of .£98,950 devoted for the purpose of developing the goldfields of the colony, on the ground that the amount was excessive. . Sir B. Stout moved to reduce the vote by .£48,950. Lost by 30 to 22, and the vote passed. The remaining items on the estimates •were passed without alteration. The House rose at 4.30 a.m.
