. Lady Missionary.— The many friends of Miss B. M. Harband in New Zealand will be glad to hear that she has had a very cordial reception in Australia amongst those interested in missionary work. On Sept. 11 the ladies of the Collins Street Congregational Church gave her a reception at which over one hundred persons were present. The Key Dr Bevan was in the chair. Miss Harband, who had been appointed to Shanghai, but who had received permission to visit her sister in India before proceeding to China, was to have left on Oct. 19, but shortly before the time of leaving she received information from the Rev Joseph Kins 1 that a cable had been received from the London Board to the effect that her appointment to China had been cancelled and that she had been transferred to India. This will be a source of satisfaction to a large circle of friends interested in her welfare. Miss Harband expects to leave Melbourne on Oct. 3. ,
