LONDON, Oct. 2. Arrived — Perthshire, from Sydney (August 6). Sailed — Star of New Zealand and Mocayshire, for Australian and New Zealand ports. Kirkdale, for Wellington. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their head office, dated LONDON, Oct. 1. Wheat, market very firm and tending upwards. Quotations per quarter for parcels 30s, and for cargoes 31s. State of trade is favourably affected by the bad harvest prospects in India. Wool prices are, if anything, tending . downwards. For the bulk of good merino i wools prices are nearly on a par with closing rates of hist series', but for the bulk '■ of medium and inferior merino wools prices are on the average 5 per cent or 8 per cent r lower. Cross-bred wools and scoured [ merino "bxary pieces are neglected, and , prices are on the average 5 per cent to 8 L per cent lower. For coarse cross-bred , fleece prices are at par to 5 per cent lower than closing rates of last series. Owing to , a thick fog no sales have been held to-day. • The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile '.
