[Per Press Association.] MELBOURNE, Sept. 12. The St Simon stallions Hautbrion and Gique, and the mare Mericlean, recently purchased by Mr S. Hordern, have arrived by the Nineveh in splendid condition. SYDNEY, Sept. 12. Donald M'Kinnon has been scratched for all engagements, and Chris for the First Hurdles. The weather is fine and hot for the first day of the Australian Jockey Club's Spring Meeting.
DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB. [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Sept. 12. The weather is fine, and the course in splendid condition. Ouida is scratched for the Shorts H-mdicap. Results :— HUNTERS* HURDLES, of 35 soys ; one mile and a half— Rebel 12st 21b (L. Smith), and Invader ll8t61b(J. Cotton), adeadheat; Silverstream lOst 121 b, 3. Mnsterpiece was the other starter. The dead-heaters ran together the whole way, there being never more than a length difference at any stage of the journey. Most of the spectators thought that Rebel won by a short neck. A protest, on the ground that Rebel was bored, was dismissed. The owners agreed to divide the stake. Time— 3min 14sec. Dividend— Rebel £1 ss, Invader £1 13s. KENSINGTON HANDICAP, of 50 soys. One mile and a distance — Hippomenes Sst 121 b (tt'llroy), 1 ; Captive 7st 131 b (Rainbow) 7st 131 b, 2} Eyre7st 121 b (Marks), 3. Time— 2inin s|sec. Lord Eosslyn was the other starter. Won in the easiest of canters by a length and a half. Dividend -i2lss. WINTEE HUBDLES, of 50 soys; two miles— Belmont lOst 61b, i ; Hex list 71b, 2 ; Silverstream, JJst 121 b, 3.
