HAGLEY PARK GROUND COMMITTEE. A special meeting" of the Hagloy Park Ground Committee was held at the Clarendon Hotel last evening; presentMessrs F. C. Gerard (in the chair), T. D. Harman, G. A. Tapper, J. D. Lawrence, J. Wheatley, D. Wood, R. Barry, R. Kitto, R. D. Harman and C. R. Clark (honorary secretary). The balance-sheet showed that the receipts had been .£l9B 14s Id, and the expenditure .£193 17s 7d, leaving a credit balance of £4 16s 6d. There was a liability' of £6. 'Mr Clark said that last year they- had secured Mr Cook's school, and Thursday items had formed an important amount in their receipts. The match and practice wickets had been top-dressed> and the grass had come on wellbefore the frosts set in. He had arranged for the sinking of two more artesian wells for watering the wickets, if the committee approved of this work being done. Ho suggested that the season be opened on Sept. 26, if the weather continued favourable up to that date. He estimated the receipts, exclusive cf Thursday matches, at .£l4O, and the general expenses at £Q5. The balancesheet was adopted. It was decided to offer the ground man .£IOO per annum, and relieve him of bowling in the evenings. It was also recommended that the clubs should get up a benefit for the ground man during the season, and it was decided that he should receive a minimum of Is for twenty minutes' bowling for' individuals. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Clark for his services during the past year, and his action in arranging for the sinking of two more wells was approved. It was decided that the Lancaster Park, Midland and United Clubs should enter two teams for the Senior Cup. The allowing of handicaps was disapproved of, and the difficulty of having an odd number of teams (Sydenham and Addington Club being able to enter only one team), and thus causing a bye, was recognised. It was agreed that the matter should be brought up at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Cricket Association. The meeting then terminated.
