DEATH IN THE POLICE LOCK-UP.

A man named Frank M'Kinney, who was wanted on a charge of lunacy, was arrested by Constable M'Gill yesterday. The constable found M'Kinney in a paddock off the Lincoln Eoad and took him to the Police Station, where he was placed in the padded cell. As the man's condition appeared serious Dr Symes was telephoned for twice from 8 p.m., but the doctor was away from home. ' At 9 p.m. Dr Moorhouse was ruDg up, and was in prompt attendance, but the unfortunate sufferer died at 10.50 p.m.

This morning, at Rangioi'a, Mr C. Tyler's delivery van, with a quantity of goods on board, was capsized in the street near the Post Office, owing to being turned too sharply. The shafts were broken, and the goods were scattered about, but sustained very little damage.
