o itEFEREES' ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Canterbury Referees' Association was held in the Clarendon Hotel last evening, Mr W. J. Cotfcerill in the chair. The delegate to the conference at Wellington (Mr "W. G. Garrard) explained the rulings that had been decided upon, subject to the approval of the Appeal Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union. A general discussion on the various points was taken. It was decided that the members of the Canterbury Association should be classified in theory and field woi'k, and Messrs W. J. Cotterill and P.T. Evan s were appointed examiners, and requested to draw up a series of questions to be answered by the members. Ifc was also suggested that if convenient the Referees' Association should suggest referees for the various matches, subject to the approval of the General Committee of the Union.
