AUSTRALIANS v. GLOUCESTERSHIRE. [Per Press Association.! LONDON, June 5. Jones, M'Kibbin and Johns stood out of the Australian team in the match against Gloucestershire. The weather was showery and caused a stoppage of the play at intervals during the day. In the first innings of Gloucester Trumble took five wickets for 46, Giffen four for 42, and Eady one for 20. In their first innings tho Australians have lost one wicket for SO, Donnan not out 26, Darling not out 35. * Grace and Sewoll added 47 runs in thirty-five minutes, but the rest of the team gave a feeble display, and the last seven wickets only added 40 runs. Trumble, who bowled throughout the innings, showed splendid form. Donnan and Darling batted freely, and knocked up 72 runs in seventy minutes, although both were missed. The bowling of the home team was erratic and the fielding faulty. The match was continued to-day in fine weather, but the wicket was heavy after the recent rains, and the .attendance was only moderate. The Australians, so far, have lost three wickets for 209 runs, Giffen 25, Donnan not out 76, Gregory not out 48. Mr Musgrove is negotiating with a French syndicate as to the terms for one match to be played against a French team in Paris. He has also received an offer by cable from the New Zealand Cricket Council for the team to play a few matches in New Zealand on the return home. He has asked the Australian Cricket Council to consent to the arrangement when dates are fixed. Jones has been offered high terms to qualify to play for Sussex County, and will probably accept.
