MAGISTERIAL. LYTTBLTON. Wednesday, June 3. (Before Mr E. Beetham, S.M.) Alleged Housebeeakino. — William Koskella and Alfred George Driscoll, two lads aged sixteen or seventeen years, were charged with breaking into the house of W. Whitby and stealing therefrom one silver watch, two sovereigns, one pair boots and two knives, to the value of £8 3s. George Wright, another lad, was charged with receiving the boots knowing them to have been stolen. Sergeant Rutledge applied for a remand, and after Constable Fitzgerald had given evidence as to finding the boots in Wright's possession the remand was granted. Ohdeb Vakied.— J. Sullivan, for whom Mr Nalder appeared, applied that an order made on March 11 for the payment of 7s 6d per week towards the support of his . illegitimate child, should be varied. Mr Kippenberger opposed. The evidence was to the effect that Sullivan, who is a fisherman, earned on an average only 9s lOd per week, out of which he had to assist in supporting a wife, three children and a mother-in-law. The wife kept a small shop, which did not pay. After hearing the evidence for and against the application, his Worship said he would reduce the order to 4s per week. Insulting Language. — Elizabeth Boyer was charged, on the information of Emily Peters, with using threatening, abusive and insulting language towards her. Mr Nalder appeared for complainant. The case was proved, and defendant was fined os and ordered to pay costs 345. Civil Case. — Louisa Rogers v. J. Gardiner ; claim «£1 6s. Judgment for plaintiff with costs. T»iate Advertisements.
