AUCKLAND NEWS.
.» TPer Press Association.! . AUCKLAND, Mat 18. A number of old colonists left for England by the Alameda, some on mining speculations and business. ' '• Several passengers by the Alameda, from Sydney, are reported to have missed sundry articles of clothing on the way across, In much the same mysterious manner which characterised the disappearance of some of the goods and chattels of passengers by the Tarawera recently. This appears to strengthen the belief that the thefts in both cases were committed before the steamers left the wharf at Sydney.
