TRINITY CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.
♦ — ■ — The thirty-second anniversary of \this church was celebrated yesterday evening. Tea . was provided in the schoolroom at six o'clock by the ladies of the congregation, followed by a public " meeting in the church at half -past seven,' when the pastor, the Rev Sidney J. Baker, presided. Addresses were delivered by the 1 Chairman and the Revs R. Erwin, ScottAllan . and I. Sarginson. Selections of nrusic were rendered' by the choir under the conductorship of Mr Johnson, and the report was read by Mr James Callender, showing that .£713 had been contributed for all objects (as against .£655 for the previous year ) . The debt on the building fund ' had been reduced by<£so. The Sunday school had a staff of seventeen teachers, and an average attendance of 117 scholars. A Men's Association, with a membership of thirty-two, had been formed during the year for the discussion of matters bearing upon social and civic duties ; also, a Christian Endeav,our Society, with a roll of fifty-two members. The Women's Association and choir had rendered valuable help. The meetings of the Band of Hope had been very successful, the hall being frequently filled. Special mention was also made of the encouraging progress of Miss ' Harband in her mission work in Madras, of the missionary deputations from the London Missionary Society, and of the loss i sustained by the Sunday-school in the removal of Mr Greenwood to Dunedin. Hearty votes of thanks were given to the ladies and all who had contributed to the success of the anniversary gatherings. A collection of Indian curios, sent from India by Miss Harband, was on view during the evening. .
