Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their head office regarding the wool sales : — Sales opened with a good selection and a large attendance of buyers. Competition is very animated. The bulk of good merino wools are, on the average, 5 per cent higher than the closing rates of the, last series, especially combing. Mei'ino fleeces, medium and inferior clothing, and the bulk of crossbred wools are also, on the average, 5 per cent higher. English and Continental buyers are operating freely, American but moderately. The total quantity available, including old stocks, is 205,000 bales. The New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative. Association of Canterbury, Limited, has received the following cable message from its London office, dated March 3 : — 'Wool sales have opened with a good attendance of buyers. Merinoes show an advance of about 5 per cent, butcross-breds are unaltered. Prime North Canterbury mutton is worth 3f d. Lamb 6sd per lb.
