There was a nice cool day for the second day's racing of the Victoria Racing Club's Autumn Meeting, and the attendance was quite up, to that of Saturday. The Governor and suite were among those present. Ballarat once more provided the winner of the Hurdle Eace, Mr C. 1 Watson's horse, The Artist, winning somewhat easily. Figaro, who finished second, ran in a somewhat erratic fashion, coming through' from last fa first and then • ' ■' dropping^ back in »• rnosi /Perplexing ■■■■, manner. In the Ascotvale Stakes-New-haven never gave anything a chance, *and : simply made hacka of the field. Coil was •well backed, but performed indifferently. Hova looked a much improved horse from Saturday, and ran a good race in the Australian Cup, but the magnificent way in which Wallace finished under his heavy burden emphasises the fact that' the latter could not have lost the St Leger except for the dilatory tactics of his rider. The excellence of Ms performance in the Cup is i enhanced by the fact that half a mile from home Gough was hard at work on him. The following are details :— THE HANDICAP HUBDLE BACE, of 5 bovb , each, with 150 bovb added; the second horse ' SOsoVsfromtheßtake. Two^eßMdatolf. MtC.
