ASHBURTON.

, There was a large entry of sheep, cattle and pigs at the- Ashburton yards yesterday, but the tone of the market was decidedly weak, and prices were no higherthan they were last week. There was a large number of farmers at the yards, but in the absence of rain they all seemed disinclined to increase their stocks, and sales were (difficult to make. The following prices were obtained :— Fat cross-breds 5s to 9s lOd^ merino ewes 4s lOd to 6s 2d, lambs from Is 6d to 8s Id, two-tooth crossbreds 5s 8d to 8s Id, "cross-bred ewes from 2s to 7s, merino ewes 9dtols6d. Cattle were difficult to sell; beef averaging from 16s to 18s per 1001 b. Pigs— Bacon pigs 17s 6d to 20s, Btubblers 10a to 14s, weaners from Is 6d.
