» — [Special to Press Association.] NEWCASTLE, Feb. 29. At a mass meeting of miners at iambton " 2000 were present. Resolutions ■were carried authorising the Lodge secretaries of the various collieries to make a demand, not later than March 9, for the restoration of the minimum rates paid under the 1888 agreement, viz., 3s 6d per ton ; and that in the event of owners refusing, a general ballot of miners should be taken within a week following such refusal on the question of giving a fortnight's notice of a general strike.
