The latter was arrested in Napier for drunken- \ nes3 last week with .£219 in his possession. M'NaugnJon left town for the country having previously purchased two bottles of whisky. He went into a blacksmith's shop at Kaikora, where the liquor was consumed, and fell asleep. On awakening he found that ,£IOO had gone. Subsequently .£9O was found buried in the shop. Boyle had a portion of the missing . money ■ when arrested. Accused was remanded. \ DUNEDINiMARCH2. ' Second Lieutenant Waddell, late of Christchurch, has been "ordered to join the Second Battalion of the West Riding Regiment at Natal. The Dunedin City Guards will be represented at the Oamaru Federal Rifle Meeting by Captain Smith, Lieutenant Jack, Sergeant Clark and Privates T. Jones and C. Sontag.
