GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
As is usual on Thursdays, yesterday was an off day in the grain market, and no business of consequence transpired. The agricultural returns for Canterbury, which are published in this issue, should have the effect of still further hardening the price of oats, as the supply will be even shorter than was expected. The following are current prices : — Wheat.— Old, 3s 6d to 3s 8d; new, 3s 4d to 3s 6d. Oats. — Prime milling, Is lid to 2s ; short feed, Is 9dto Is lid; Duns, Is 9d. Barley.— Malting, prime 3s 9d to 4s ; medium do, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; second quality, 2s 6d to 3s; feed, 2s 3d; Cape barley 2s 3d to2s6d. Beans.— Nominal, well-saved 2s 4d. Peas. — Blue Prussians 3s 4d to 3s Bd. Ryecorn. — Nominally Is 9d to 2s. Floub.— Millers quote roller J5lO, stone £9 10s, sharps £A, bran £& 1Os « Oatmeal.— .£ll los. Clover.— Extra choice machine-dressed 6d to 6%d, farmers' lots 4£d to s£d, according to quality. Grass Seed.— Ryegrass, farmers' lots 2s 6d to 3s 3d, machine-dressed to 4s, heavyweight 4s 3d. Cocksfoot 3d to 3£d, town machine-dressed 4d to 4£d, extra to 4jd, Dairy Produce.— Cheese 3fd to 4d, loaf 4£d to sd. Butter— Factory Bd, dairy 6d to 7d, salt 6d.
