FIRES.
[Per Pkess Association. ! ;~ : PAHIATUA, Feb. 28. 1 A fire occurred this morning. The Argus newspaper office was totally destroyed; nothing was saved. The building was owned by Mr T. C. Williams, and was insured for .£l2O in the Liverpool and London and Globe office. The plant was insured for .£l5O, but in what office is not known. An adjoining building, owned by Mr Gilbey, o£ Wanganui, and occupied by Mr Black, printer, was also destroyed. The insurance is .£IOO on the building and -.£7O :on the plant, in the New Zealand office. ' WELLINGTON, Feb. 28. The premises of H. J. Rodgers, draper, Manners Street, were badly damaged this i morning by afire which broke out in the upper story of the building. The stock on the lower floor suffered from smoke and ' 'water..' ... ..■ •■ " \ ■ , . . Mr Rodgers estimates the damage to his ' stock and building at .£7OO. The building . is owned by Mr Winder, and insured in the , Commercial Union for .£6OO. The furniture is insured for .£2OO in the same office. The stock is insured for .£3OO each in the Commercial Union, South British, Eoyal Exchange and Phoenix offices.
