LYTTELTON.
Wednesday, Feb. 26. (Before Mr R. Beetham, S.M.) Petty Larceny. — Ernest and Nellie Demechelli, aged twelve years and thirteen and a half years respectively, were charged with stealing the sum of 20s from J. Higgs. Sergeant Rutledge said the children's parents were dead, and their stepmother, Mrs Sullivan, found them hard to control. They had gone into the house of a neighbour, and while the boy kept watch the girl went upstairs and stole the money. His Worship said he did not feel disposed to fill the Industrial schools with such cases as these, and, after giving the children a good talking to, the case was dismissed. Civil Case. — A. M'Bride v. Mrs Sing, claim -33 0s 6d. Judgment for plaintiff for.£los6d.
