THE HARVEST.

Inthe Oxford districtthe harvest is nearly .over, and there are only a few small lots still in i the -fields. "Most of the oats worth threshing have gone through the machine, with the anticipated result, viz., an average of about ten bushels to the acre; but the v wheat ia turning out better, and will probably yield about twenty-five bushels to the acre. Of course, after such a long period of dry, hot weather, the fields were becoming very bare, and turnips were beginning to droop, but the rain on Sunday has already produced a good effect, and was welcomed by everybody except, perhaps, Mr Thomas and his men, who are endeavouring to complete the concrete dam across Cooper's, Creek before a flood comes down.
