RIFLE SHOOTING.
On Saturday the College Eifles had a field day at Bromley. The. corps .fired against four different teams, representing, the -E. .Battery, s.M«S..'.'Katoombai phe. Rangiora Eifles and ex-members of .the College Eifles.. Altogether, about seyenty, men took part.; The: .weather was. fine, with a -steady ,'nbrtE-east^wiM;. the light was bright and very puzzling at 6OOyds. The .result . was, a ; win f or the IJ. Battery. Privates, which resulted in a win for the former by six points. Prizes given by the corps were won by Private Teape, Sergeant Hartland, Corporal Merton and Lance-Corporal Gundry. The medal presented by Mr Gundersen was won by Private Teape, and range prizes were won byCorporal Merton, Private Teape and Sergeant Hartland. Refreshments were provided, and a very pleasant afternoon was spent. It is proposed to hold a match between teams of twenty men a side from the men-of-war now in, Port and the Canterbury volunteers. If the match can be arranged, it will probably take place on Thursday next. J [Per Press Association.] PABZATUA,Pbb.2I.
