The Sugar Journal, in a leading article dealing with the prospects of sugar growing, says thatthe number of Polynesians i employed on the plantations is steadily decreasing. The lesson taught is that men in working for themselves, and using! the best machinery, are displacing coloured! workers, the labour question being gradually forced into the back-ground. The industry has, in ' consequence, gained stability; ' ' . !
