E. W. Parker thinks it was unfortunate that a member of the Hospital Board should have been one of the jury in the recent assault case. Two correspondents declare that but for social position and influence there would have been no petition in connection with the assault case. "Sigma" wants to know what the Students of Truth are going to do about A. B. Worthington, in view of the latest revelations. "Worker" urges that the hours of labour for women, calculated at forty-four per week, are still too long, and that any attempt at an increase should be strenuously resisted. ... . "A Constant Subscriber" suffers from the constant complaint that when we write as he thinks, he is delighted, and that when we do not he is angry. His special grievance is that we have treated the prohibitionists unfairly. ■ "St Albans" states that some of the cases of typhoid fever could readily be traced to one of the sources of milk supply, and urges that the local authorities are neglecting a primary duty in. not instituting a system of rigid inspection. " Cyclist" complains about " the shameful condition of Manchester Street north."
The Rakaia Bridge. — It is announced that the Rakaia bridge is again open for road traffic by night.
