WORKING MEN'S CLUB.

A very pleasant social gathering took " place in the hall of the Christchurch Working Men's Club on Saturday night, ■when the room was crowded with members' and visitors from the men-of-war ! now in port. Mr Davidson, Chairman of the Entertainment Committee, presided. ' The members of the band of H.M.s! ' Orlando played several selections in a highly ] finished style, and their health was drunk with musical honours. A number of songs and instrumental selections were contri- ( buted by the visitors, and a most pleasant 1 evening was spent. An impromptu social ' gathering, which is open to the naval * visitors, will be held this evening. To- : morrow evening the return Morris-tube ■ match with the team which repre- • sented H. M. S. Katoomba last week '' will be fired. At the close of the ' match the Katoomba's team will j entertain the members of the club in the ' social hall. Arrangements are being made i for a Morris-tube match on the club's 1 range between teams representing .the four! i men-of-war, and it is expected that this will take place on Wednesday night. Permission having been given by the coin- 1 mittee for the use of the hall on Thursday 1 evening, a social gathering of the men-of- < war teams taking part in a rifle match < that day at Bromley will be held.
