Cbntraii Mission. — A "social" in connection with the Christchurch Central Mission was held in the Blue Ribbon Hall on Wednesday to give members and friends an opportunity of wishing the Rev W. and Mrs Birch him voyage. Mr Birch goes on a visit to the United States on a special mission, and considers the work will not cause a longer absence from the colony than seven to eight months. He goes with the full accord of the Central Mission. On behalf of the Mission Mrs Birch was presented with, two beautiful boxes, choicely | inlaid with New Zealand woods, and in the j name of the whole- Mission Mr J. Martin presentedthe Rev ..W..
