The Bank of England returns published I to-day show the total reserve in notes and bullion to be Jg39,942,600, the proportion of reserve to liabilities being 63 f 4O per cent. New South Wales 3 per cent inscribed stock 90$, New Zealand 3 per cent 96£. j New Zealand lamb, new, 6d. At yesterday's sales 3900 .cases of kauri gum were offered, half of which were sold. Three-quarter scraped brought 925, halfscraped 575. The stock on hand consists of 2400 cases. * .. ' Butter, market flat, quoted at 96s to 100s. Danish, has been raised one kroner owing to the large demand from Manchester importers. A shipment of Australian, packed in plaster, arrived in a rancid and shrunken condition, and had apparently been heated, on the voyage.
