m ' • . Yeßterday afternoon a water carnival was held at the Southbrook Baths. There was a large attendance of spectators, and the various events attracted a good number of competitors. The judges were Messrs A. Y. Hay and Jones, and the starter Mr W. Harman. The events decided were : — Schoolboys'. Eace. 50 yards— W. Crighton Bsec, 1 ; S. M'Donald 2sec, 2 ; L. Shepherd 3sec, 3. There were ten competitors. Schoolgirls' Eace, 25 yards— Flossie Bell scr, 1 ; Alice Bell 3sec, 2. Four competed. Diving for Plates— A. Ellis. Fifty Yards Club Race— First heat : W. Vaughan scr, 1 ; W. J. Hunter 12sec, 2. Second heat : C. Jones lsec> 1 ; J. Moir lsec, 2. Time for first man in each heat — 43sec. Final: C. Jones 1, J. Moil- 2. Time — 45#ec. Six competitors. Diving (schoolboys) : Neatest Header — B. Ellis. Five competitors. Egg and Spoon Race, 25 yards— W. Vaughan 1, A. Ellis 2. Seventy-five Yardb Inter-club Handicap— G. J. C. Smart scr, 1 j C. Jones 6yds, 2 ; J. Moir 6yds, 3. There was also a game of water polo, played between teams of schoolboys. The following will represent the Sydenham water-polo team against East Christchurch next Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the East Christchurch bath ;— W. A. Hall, a. Cobeldick, A. Russell, R. Hall, C. Kent (captain), C. Cameron and G. R. Bell. _J
