SMOKE CONCEET.

At the Christchurch Cycling Club-rooms in the evening a smoke concert was held, when there was a very large attendance. The President, Mr B>. C. Bishop occupied the chair. Mr Bishop expressed his pleasure at being present, and congratulated the club on the very successful race meeting which had been held. He Jurther stated that he , : understood it was the 'intention .of the' club' to hold a race meeting on . Saturday as a benefit to the visiting cyclists, who. had incurred very large expenses in connection with their visit' to New Zealand. A deputation was appointed to wait upon ■ the Directors of the Lancaster Park Company to-day to see if satisfac-. . tory terms could be arranged. Duringthe evening 1 the following toasts were honoured : — " The Queen," "The Visitors," proposed by Mr A. C. Duff, captain of the club, and responded to by Messrs Grigg, Martin and Harris ; "Kindred Clubs'' proposedby Mr J. Tompkins, and responded to by Messrs A. Joss, A. Mnrie, C. H. Jones and H. Thompson. The toasts of the "Successful Competitors," "Unsuccessful Competitors/ "The Press," "The President and the Vice-Presidents " were also drunk. Songs i and recitations were given by members and friends, and an enjoyable evening was spent. Mr H. Eossiter acted as accompanist.
