BIBLE CHRISTIAN DISTRICT MEETING.
The fifth day of the session took place yesterday. The Chapel Secretary's report was received and adopted. It was shown that several of the trust properties had been renovated, and the entire cost had been met without increasing the debts. Several of the great moral questions were discussed, and resolutions passed bearing on them. The following is their order : — "That in the interest of national morality the C.D. Act should be repealed, and the age of consent raised." " That the equality of the ; sexes should be recognised in all legislation qn moral questions." "That members of racing* clubs and other gambling institutions, and persons of known intemperate habits, should not be elected to officos in church courts." Resolutions were also carried sympathising with the editor of the Prohibitionist in his crusade against the drink traffic, and affirming the desirableness of giving the power at the ballot-box to give ."• straight issue to the question of "license" or "no license." The district debt was discussed, and it was decided to endeavour to extinguish it before union took place. The public meeting in the Wesleyan Church last night was considered opportune, as no less a sum than .6130 was raised, the ministers of the church donating .810 each, and the laymen also giving substantial sums. Various items of connexional interest were considered, the journal was read and confirmed, and the session was closed by singing the Doxology.
