FIRE.
About half-past four o'clock yesterday morning two of the railway employes who had arrived by the stock train at Addingtpn, were passing Mr Topliss's butter box factory, on the Lincoln Eoad, Addington, when they saw that it was on fire. They broke in, and quenched the flames by the aid of a few buckets of water, which they obtained from a tub standing near the building. They then roused Mr Topliss, who lives in a house adjoining, and' who stated that there was no insurance on the premises. The fire had begun among some timber stacked around the boiler, and the flames were running up the side of the building when the fire was discovered. A considerable quantity of the timber was burned, and some damage was done to the wall. Had it not been for the promptitude with which the discoverers of the fire -acted, the building must have been destroyed, as the flames would in a few moments have obtained such a hold that they could not have been extinguished, and the building was full of inflammable material.
