CHRISTCHURCH REGATTA CLUB.
A meeting of the committee was held last evening, at the Canterbury Bowing Club's . boathouse ; present — Messra F. D. Kesteven i (in the chair), W. G. Atack, A. E. Craddock, J. R. Evans, B. R. Harding, H. Kilner, R. M'Donald, A. L. Smith, H. H. Smith, H. R. Homan (honorary secretary) and X J?. Grierson (consul for Canterbury). Correspondence . was read from; the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce' btating that action had been taken /with regard to securing the closing of business houses at noon on the day of thb regatta. From Mr H. V. Styche regretting hiß inability to act as starter, owing to his absence from town. The sub-committee appointed to inquire into the case of two members of a club who had been posted as defaulters by the Sports Protection Association, reported that the matter had been satisfactorily Settled. Mr A. E. Craddock was appointed to act as starter, and Mr J. F. Grierson was Selected to fill the position of umpire; vice Mr Craddock. The following entries were received for the regatta : — Junior Double Sculls — Union, Wairewa, Young Men's Christian Association, Canterbury; Senior Four — Star, Lyttelton, Canterbury; Maiden Double Sculls — Canterbury, Toung Men's Christian Association, Union, Wairewa; Junior Four — Union, Avon, Wairewa, Lyttelton, Wellington; Senior Double Sculls — Star, Wairewa (2), Canterbury ; Maiden Four — Canterbury, Wellington; Ladies' Plate — Union, Wairewa, Wellington, Canterbury; Senior PairsStar, Wairewa, Canterbury. The positions were drawn by the Consul. It was decided that the honorary Secretary and the honorary Treasurer should pay over the prize-money on the day following the regatta. Mr C. Turner was, appointed to assist the Boat Committee. After some discussion it was decided to start the first race at 1.30 p.m. The meeting then closed. '
