_ Building Trades' Picnic. — The annual picnic, which is to be held on Saturday at Mr Allan Hopkins' paddock, near the New Brighton racecourse, bids fair to be a great success. The following timber merchants and builders have signified their intention of closing their places of business on that day: — Messrs Waller and Son, Wood and Lawrie, 8.. W. England, J. T. Brown and Son, Williams and Stephens, H. B. Kirk, Smith and Smith, Gavin Watson, E, Simmons, J. Eantin, T. N. Horsley, W. Hunsley, Jamieson and others. Trams will . leave Bennett's corner, at 9 a.m., accompanied by the Sydenham Brass Band.
