♦ Sheep Sales.— The annual Kaikoura sheep sale will take place on Feb. 28. The annual Amuri sheep fair will be held on March 6. Waimakariri-Ashley Water Supply Board. — Mr D. Buddo, finding that his duties would probably interfere with hia services on the Board, has withdrawn his name as a candidate for the vacancy caused by Mr Heywood's death. In consequence of his withdrawal Mr J. M'Dowell, of Melford, was nominated yesterday. There is not likely to be any other candidate. Land Sale. — At Rangiora, yesterday afternoon, Messrs Dalgety and Co. offered by auction six farm properties, oil account of Mr P. C. Threlkeld, but only one was sold, namely 70 acres at Ohoka, with a six-roomed dwelling-house, the price being .£l3 10s per acre, and the/ purchaser Mr John Milne, of Fernsido. lA lease of 40 acres, with seven yeara to run, was included in the purchase. The MUburn Estate, near Ohoka, of 244.J acres, elicited one bid of .£2O per acre, and Collior's farm of 672 acres, at Cust, M*as passed in at JES per acre. The Fatal Fibe at Balcaibn.— A meeting of the Committee of the Truman. Relief Fund -was held on Monday evening, Mr S. Croft iv tho chair. The secretary read letters enclosing subscriptions, and apologies were received from several whowore unable to be present, who, in every case, expressed great sympathy with the cause. The reports from the various members who had subscription lists in hand were most encouraging, showing that tho people had responded heartily to the appeal. It was decided to close the lists on Saturday, Feb. 20, and subsequently to arrange for having the amount collected paid over to Mr Tinman.
