Bible Christian Church.— The third day of the district meeting took place yesterday. The morning was devoted largely to the consideration of trust matters. The report of the Sunday School Secretary was received, and was considered most satisfactory. An increase of 169 scholars and 14 teachers was shown, whilst a large number of these had been admitted into church membership. The second and third .lists of stations resulted in the ministers being stationed the same as last year, with certainrecommendatipns to be made to t&e united conference. A resolution of condolence with Mrs Roebuck, of Marshland, in her bereavement was passed, several paying high tribute to the memory of her deceased husband. A resolution was passed in favour of prohibition. The report of the committee appointed to inquire into the spiritual state of the church, gave general satisfaction, several revivals having been reported from the various circuits. A Christian endeavour convention was held in the Wesleyan schoolroom at night, when several societies were represented. On Sunday most of the ministers attending the meeting occupied the various pulpits in the Canterbury district. The recipes of over three hundred different oils and perfumes have been preserved in the remains of Roman literature.
