RIFLE SHOOTING.
♦ LYTTELTON RIFLE CLUB v. KAIAPOI RIFLES. Ou Saturday afternoon a team representing the Lyttelton Martini-Henry Rifle Club journeyed to Kaiapoi and met a team from the Kaiapoi Rifles. The day was not altogether favourable, as at the long ranges the light was variable, and consistent; shooting was difficult. The ranges fired afc wore 200, 500 and 600 yds, and after a pleasant afternoon's shooting the countrymen proved successful by 51 points. The following are the scores : — Kaiapoi Rifles.— Private N. G. Robilliard 200 yds 30, 500 yds 81, 600 yds 28—89; Corporal Simpson 31, 27, 28—86 ; Private F. Robilliard 30,30, 26—86; Private Fraser 30, 23, 30—83 ; Private Bate 32, 25, 25— 82; Private Hayinan 26, 31, 25—82; Private Balch 26, 25,26—77; Lieutenant Simpson 29, 29, 16—74 ; Private Templeton 29, 29, 16—74 ; Sergeant Pearce 8, 30, 25— " 63.
