(Conductor: Mr George Jones.) Opening: Attack faulty and out of tune, want of precision all through, from bar 33. badly in time, cornet slips^ Gin bar 35. Sempre rail : Soprano too prominent, basses lasts three bars out of tane." Moderato: Opens very f air,again badly in tune from bar ' 9,. soprano overdone at bar 14. Mosso : Acr conlpanunents ..choppy, baritone very nice tone, band settles down from bar 30, 'but still not in tune,- marks of expression overdone,/.*., fair. Allegro: Opens very well, accompaniments better together but soprano slightly overblowing, band jerky from bar 23, band- not precise enough in cad.' bar, soprano appears a little Exhausted, cornet overblown at bai*3 66 and 57 soprano good tone from bar. 359, but still a little vulgar, band precise from bar 63, finishes movement a little muddy. Allegro: Going fairly well, middle.-. par-ts slovenly at times in echo strainß, better articulation required on last few. bars. Adagio : Accompaniments fair but euphonium too mechanical, cornet and baHtone slightly out of tune from bar 9, euphonium slips in bar .21, cad. very fair. Allegretto : . Accompaniments unsteady at start, bass a little clumsy, shot notes not precise, bombardon gets laboured towards finish, tone being very thin in cad. bar, band good for bar 19,' very good last two bars. Andante : Band might have been better in tune, trombone getting a fine healthy tone but at times overblown. Allegretto : Accompaniments fair, cornets make quavers in first of bars too long, resulting in semiquavers being played too <jJose together, cornet a little too prominent from bar 24, shot note better at cad! bar, cornet fairly good, B for cornets at bar 67 overblown., Presto: Too hurried, becomes a scramble.' Lento : Wants more breath. Points ... 59.
