SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
' A meeting of the Kowai Pass School Committee waa held on Thursday evening; present-^Messrs Barker (chairman), Williams, Bryden, Fraser, Campbell and Shanks. The Inspector's report was read, and his general remarks indicated that the school jrtUl maintained its prestige for discipline and efficiency. On the motion of Mr Shanks, it was unanimously resolved — •" That this committee desires to place on record its kppreciation of the valuable services of the head-master and his staff, and to thank them for their indefatigable endeavours to bring their pupils to a high state of Mental cultare ; also, to congratulate Mr Alley on the success he has attained in gaining six scholarships, for pupils under his tuition, in two years— a record in NeW Zealand for a country sohool." • ■■■
