ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
[Per Press Association.] '; AUCKLAND, Jan. 14. Furtier particulars of the Kaipara boating accident show that the party went out to • Motirimu Island for a day's picnic. They were returning at 5.30 p.m., and when about a chain and a half from the island a puff of -vrind jibed the sail. The boai capsized and the occupants were thrown into the watei. A strong wind was blowing from the island to the mainland, and the tide ■was running strongly. None could swim save Edwards. He pulled them out of the I water and got them to hold on to the boat I and rigging, but heavy seas washed them off. Edwards tried to get Harold Perkins ashore, but the little fellow was drowned. Yesterday evening as Mr Martin- Taylor was driving into Sumner with a friend, the axle of the trap broke and the horse bolted.' j The occupants of the vehicle were thrown | out, but were not injured. , .
