Eoad, caused by the Tramway Company laying the rails above the crown of the road, and asking the Council to compel the company to make up the road to the rail ievel, and restore it to its former condition. Ifc was decided to forward a copy of the letter to the Tramway Company. From the Lincoln and Tai Tapu Boad Boards asking the Council to erect a traffic bridge over the Halswell> near the schoolhouse afc Tai Tapu to connect the Akaroa Boad with the Drain Eoad. Consideration of the letters was deferred pending the receipt of information as to the probable cost of the erection of the bridge and the amount those interested would be likely to give in the event of the Council agreeing to carry out the work. lYom Mr T. Quealey, Tai Tapu, stating that the contractors were making. , good progress with the work of cleaning out the Halswell. The greater part of the river had been cleaned out three times since the contractors commenced work. MISCEMiLANEOUS. It was decided to send a final notice to several occupiers and landowners in the various water-race districts, asking them to pay their water-race rates within fourteen Mr Chapman wrote, stating that the repairs to White's bridge had been completed. The Eoads Diversion Committee recommended that in the event of the Courtenay Eoad Board wishing to close a by-road at Waireka the Council would offer no objection. The report was adopted. The Council considered itt committee a letter from Mr Morland with regard to the fire on his property. Upon resuming, it was reported that the Council could see no reason to alter its previous decision/ * After dealing with water-race business, the meeting closed. _^
