MyuTett, ; Hadfield, Large, Caygffl,. Budd, "Hirtzely Billcliffj Manhire and Cutler; . ' _ The secretary of the _ Eailway ; , Mre Brigade forwarded a statement showing that the brigkde had' attended' five fires in. Sydenham for tW: halfTyear eriding Dec. J3l. The. City /Council .wrote asking' the Council to appoint a delegate to. attend the conference to decide on the ; weekly halfholiday., The Mayor was : appointed ■ to represent the Council, Thursday being the day suggested. -• , .■' The .Secretary of th,e. Charitable Aid Board wrote that- Mr T. Cutler had designed. Ms , seat on the. Board. The vacancy wbuld be filled in the usual way, but the.^ Board.^wished to , know if the Connbil^ould recommend' a successor. ; It was decided to recommend Councillor Manhire for appointment to the Board. ; A letter was received from the Eiflcartoti" Eoad Board, stating that at a meeting of the Board the question of watering the Lincoln Eoad had been considered, and a resolution carried to the effect that, as the householders oh the north side of the Sydenham boundary portion of the Lincoln Eoad were not in favour of a special rate for the purpose, the Board , could . not see its way to defray the 'cost out of thegeneral rate. . -.;■, '■ . ...... i The Wprks-' Committee reported that it could not recommend tha granting of therequest of Messrs Haiinan and Steviens' regarding 'the 'opening 'of a' new street, except on certain conditions. The committee also recommended that the request for the concrete channelling of the north side of Shakspere Eoad, from Waltham Eoad to "Wilson's Eoad, should be granted. The report was adopted after some discussion and with slight amendment. I The Finance Committee reported that during the last fortnight the receipts had been :— General^ account, .£202 13s 2d ; | interest account, £V 4s j 'separate accounts, <£147 17s 10d; total,. .£351 155. Accounts amounting to .£l5O 10s 7d were recommended for payment.. i The report was adopted. ; > Councillor Hadfield moved and Councillor Caygill seconded — " That the agreementwith the City Council for the use of |the chemical engine in the borough for ,the next Welre months on the same terms as. last year be entered into." The motion was earned. The question of a cemetery for ,the borough was discussed. . ; Councillor Muffett moved and Councillor M'Millan seconded— ".. That the offeri of Messrs Harman and Stevens of the section of twenty-five acres east of Wilderness Eoad be accepted, if they will consent to reduce the price to £60 per acre, ,£2OO to be paid down and the interest on the balance to be 4 per :cent, with the understanding also that there is a road on the east of |the land as shown in the plan." i After a lengthy discussion the motion was put and lost by' 7 to 6. The^Council then rose.
