The City Guards.— The City Guards volunteer corps was inspected last evening by Colonel Fox. There was a total muster of fifty-three out of a possible fifty-eight, Captain' Crcswell being in command, with Lieutenant Baker and Lieutenant and Adjutant Sandford. Lieutenants-Colonel Gordon and Francis were also present. The men were put through company drill by the officers arid manual firing exercises by the sergeants. At the conclusion Colonel Fox expressed satisfaction with the ri work performed by the men and officers^ stating that the corps was a credit to the volunteer force. The corps intend hold* ing their annual camp at Sumner. ' Tenfe will be pitched on Thursday evening. The Garrison Band will- be in. attendance on Sunday next, and will take part in tho church partide.
