FORESTRY.

The annual meeting of the : South Canterbury district was held on ' Friday night in the Foresters' Hall, Waimate, Bro Alfred Bitchener.'D.CJS., presiding. There were also present the D.S.C.B. Bro Brown, ' D.B. Bro Taggart, D. Sec. Bro W. C. BurS, D. Treasurer Bro J. Barf ord and W.' Pratt, auditor. " Delegates ' . present ■— Court Southern Cross, Bros J. Bennett and W. Harris; Court Foresters' Pride, Bros A. Telfer and W. T. Wills; Court Progress, Bros D. ' Anderson and D. Stowell. Several members of the local Court, and some visitors from Timaru were also present. The auditor read the report and balance-sheet. The latter showed an increase in the district' funds for the past twelve months of .£67. ' The total funds of the District Cotirt were .£SOO, which was considered very satisfactory. The matter of opening new Coxu'ts at Beaconsfield, Temiika and Fairlie' was brought forward, but nothing definite was done in the matter. District officers for the ensuing year were nominated by Court Progress, and are as follows :— D.C. Ranger, Bro D. Anderson ; D.S.C.E., Bro Hopkins ; D.8., Bro J. M'Clymont, The newlyelected D^C.R. was duly installed into office by Bro Bitchener. A funeral donation of =£12 was passed to a member of Court Foresters Pride, on account of the death of his wife. Accounts amounting to '£29 9s 4d were passed for payment. Theretiring D.C.R. was presented with a P.D.C.iR. sash and framed certificate, in recognition of his services. Business being concluded the lpcal Court entertained the visitors, and a pleasant hour was spent in chat and songs.
