GENERAL NEWS.

THE LATE MR WARWICK WESTON.

A telegram from Auckland says : — A private letter received from Sir G. M. O'Rorke by Mr T. S. Weston furnishes particulars regarding the death of Mr Warwick Weston, late general manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company. Sir Maurice states that at first Mr Weston thought he had received a slight stroke, but later on it was thought to be an attack of influenza. The doctor stated that it was nervous prostration from which the patient was suffering. Three da}--s before the vessel reached Colombo the steward rushed up from Mr Weston's cabin and said he thought that that gentleman was dying. Sir Maurice at once went to see Mr Weston, but was not recognised by the patient, who died quietly without a struggle or a groan.' The body was committed to the deep at 7.30 in the morning, all the officers and saloon passengers attending the service, which was conducted by the captain.
